Fashion and Creativity for Peace and Development
Can the invention of the (CFC)* and (CFW)** assist to establish/elevate fashion designers throughout the ‘Commonwealth of Nations’ and would the fashion industry embrace/reject a Commonwealth Fashion Movement?
*Commonwealth Fashion Council
** Commonwealth Fashion Week
My project is about establishing, promoting and encouraging fashion designers/creativity to blossom within an organisation (Commonwealth of Nations) that has 54 voluntary member nations. Most of the 54 nations do not have fashion councils/creative divisions; that encourages or promotes individuals to succeed and develop their desires/dreams to become actively involved within fashion design/creative industries. My goal is to encourage creativity/fashion design throughout the organisation. The Commonwealth Secretariat has core ‘values’ peace and development; are two of these core values. I believe that Fashion/creativity can be used as a vehicle to promote peace and development – peace and development can be used to establish, promote and encourage fashion designers/creativity.
By applying values of the Commonwealth, we can help to promote peace and development, by uniting together, creative and non creative citizens, thus connecting cultures*. Creativity can be used as a beacon of light to demand peace and development within our Commonwealth and throughout the world.
*Connecting Cultures is the theme for the year a head.

The engagement of the media is what the Commonwealth requires to promote Brand Commonwealth, core values and uniqueness.
Reconnecting the Commonwealth of Nations with a. their citizen’s b. the wider world - requires immediate action. Building bridges/avenues for exchange and engagement is what my project is about. My project is now adopting Commonwealth values, using fashion design/creativity as a medium for communication.
